Originally built in 1921 by Louis Ayres of the architectural firm York & Sawyer, the Bowery Savings Bank was described as easily the most sumptuous venue of its kind, with towering marble columns, inlaid geometric marble floors, beautiful chandeliers and lofty 65 foot ceilings all invoking the classic glamour of the Italian Renaissance.
