Description
Beautiful four season, 2100 sq foot cottage on very private two acres of woods and south-facing waterfront, offering all day sunshine, in the spectacular rolling hills of Hastings Highlands. Circa 2hrs 45 mins from Ottawa, 3hrs from Toronto.
Set far back from the local road, after a long sweeping driveway, this large family-sized 2 level cottage was built by a nuclear scientist in the 1960's and is solidly constructed with large wooden beams and many unique features (such as a trap door!) and multiple living & dining spaces. There are four access points into the cottage - 3 on ground level and one on upstairs level - offering great convenience and flexibility (including wheelchair accessibility).
The cottage has four bedrooms and sleeps 10-12 people. There are two well-stocked kitchens - one is an open concept Bar area in the upstairs lounge with cosy wood-burning stove and bay window with views over the lake. Three bedrooms are upstairs as well as the main bathroom with claw foot tub. An extension houses the big beautiful sun room that has screened-in windows all around and fantastic views over the lake. The ground floor has another large open plan kitchen and dining room with views over the lake and features an original pink retro 1960's stove and Fusbol table.
The lodge sits on a gentle elevation proudly overlooking the corner bay of the lake and has expansive grounds with trees as well as cleared grass areas (it used to have a 9-hole golf course!). It has a shallow sandy beach with clear water a Dock, two Canoes and a large lakeside Fire pit. Excellent Trout & Bass fishing in this quiet, minimal boat traffic, side of the lake.
Around the Area & Local Amenities:
There is a vast network of trails and miles of crown land for hiking, biking, ATVs, snowmobiles, snowshoeing (OFSC 173) starting right across from cottage driveway!
St Peter’s Lake Provincial Park is 5mins away and has a large sandy beach, canoe and kayak rentals, ice-cream stand in summer, volleyball courts and a varied terrain hiking trail with a lookout cabin and kettle pond.
Algonquin Provincial Park East gate is 30mins.
Linkie’s General Store & Gas Bar is just 5mins away. The historic village of Maynooth is en route with bustling cafes and tea room, art galleries, antique stores, a farmer's market every Saturday May-Oct (every first Sat in Winter), Gas store with DVD rental & Bait, Snowmobile & Dog sledding tours, Ice-Skating rink, LCBO. The dramatic beauty of this region has long attracted artists including members of the Group of Seven who painted here. Maynooth is still home to many artists, artisans, musicians, writers and creators and hosts frequent community events.
The larger town of Bancroft is 30 min south and has all local amenities, Canadian Tire, Shoppers, No Frills, Dollarama, Food Farmland, gift shops, restaurants and pubs etc.

Rules
Please leave the cottage as you found it.
Smoking allowed outdoors only - carefully dispose of all cigarette butts.
Furry friends are welcome as long as they stay off beds and couches and their poop is cleaned up from the cottage grounds.
Remove shoes inside the house
Please bring your own fire wood for the fire pit and kindling (we supply logs for the wood stoves in winter)
Please read and follow the daily signs indicating local fire regulations
Please do not leave any litter on the property or the grounds. Take all garbage to local garbage disposal upon departure.
We supply beddings - pillows, comforters etc but ask that you bring your own sheets, pillow cases and towels. These may be provided upon request at a nominal fee of $10 per bed.
There are baseboard heaters throughout the property as well as plug in radiators, however the wood burning stoves provide the principal source of heating. You must be familIar with using a wood burning stove before using it.
No glass bottles/glasses etc on the dock or by the water - please use the plastic ones provided.
